Time2Care's Fencing for Future Donation Drive
Organized by Sai Pratham Chutkay, Agasthya Prabhakar and Saisiddhi Chutkay
Our GOAL:
To provide encouragement, hope, and resources to local school students from an under-resourced community through a unique and exciting, life changing experience in fencing, by organized mentoring and fencing-based scholarships.
What We Want to See:
We want to provide youth a new perspective and to see opportunities available to them through the world of fencing. Our underlying focus: increasing the number of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and youth in fencing.
Why are we doing this?:
We want to provide an opportunity for underprivileged kids. We want to give them the chance to attempt a sport that is currently on the rise globally. According to US census, most children living in poverty, even if it may be temporary, are not able to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports. Moreover, most sports cost a fortune to afford. In sports such as fencing, it may cost upwards of $400 for just equipment. In addition, classes, private lessons, travel expenses, fencing membership, and competition fees can cost more than a couple thousand dollars. We as a non-profit are trying to provide these opportunities, free of charge for these underprivileged kids.
Who are we?
My name is Pratham and have been fencing since I was 6 years old and my friend Agasthya has been fencing since he was 8 years old. We are fortunate to have access to top-notch coaches and training facilities. Recognizing that not all young people have this opportunity, we started this program to introduce the sport of fencing to the underprivileged kids. We hope to have a positive impact on some kid's life. And now you have an opportunity to spark the glow in these kids by donating to our cause.
